Leather strap with Tokyo Furoshiki by Hannah Waldron Size: 400 x 30 mm (Strap) , 900 x 900 mm (Furoshiki) Material : Leather, Metal (Strap), Cotton (Furoshiki) Handmade in Japan, using Japanese traditional printing techniques with glow in the dark ink. The handmade leather strap is easily attached, letting you use your furoshiki as a shoulder bag. It's just as easy to take off again, and doesn't damage the cloth in any way. This thin furoshiki and leather strap take up very little space when folded, making them ideal for traveling. This makes a great gift. You can change strap colour. Designer's words : Arriving in Tokyo city in that magic time between night and day, our train meanders through a tetris like metropolis, we become enveloped in a world of blocks, but as we look more we begin to see the traces of times past. Windows appear to flicker on and off, as people come and go, the city that never sleeps welcomes us with its glow. Glow in the Dark : Our printers approached us with a new technique they’d been working on for applying glow in the dark inks using silk screens. We were intrigued by the potential and asked Hannah to design a furoshiki around the idea — “Tokyo” was the result. The ink absorbs natural light during the day and radiates a soft glow at night. Unlike some glow in the dark inks, ours is soft to the touch so it can be worn comfortably. Printing process : Each of our products has been hand printed in Japan, using traditional printing techniques. We are working with a great printing company called Chiffonez in Tokyo, who specialize in the printing of furoshiki. To make sure we get the best results possible, we keep a close dialogue with the printers, retaining a good balance between our ideas and their invaluable knowledge.
