Crafted from a coarse red earthenware clay, this bowl embodies the rustic charm and warmth of pottery. The amber glaze, with its lustrous sheen, creates a rich, inviting color that enhances the visual appeal of food. These elements are combined to create this uniquely shaped bowl, reminiscent of a round leaf. This is an irregularly shaped bowl, formed from a round base with a single indentation. Its charming form resembles the leaves of a broadleaf tree, a flower petal, or even a heart. A touch of white glaze accentuates the rim of the bowl, with flowing patterns created during the firing process. With its generous depth, this bowl can comfortably hold dishes with sauces and gravies. It is ideal for dishes like nikujaga (meat and potato stew), simmered root vegetables, agedashi tofu, jibu-ni (a Kyoto-style stew), potato salad, or dishes with a thickened sauce. You can also enjoy the interplay of colors between your vibrant dishes, such as chirashizushi (scattered sushi), and the bowl itself. This vessel is perfect for serving small portions. All stages of production, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are meticulously carried out by hand in my home studio, equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. While mass production is not possible, each piece possesses its own unique character, offering the distinct charm that comes from handmade craftsmanship. The item you will receive is identical to the product images. There are currently two pieces available. As each of the two pieces has subtle differences in form and weight, detailed specifications are provided in the final product image. If both pieces are still available, you may select your preferred one by notifying us at the time of purchase. The base of the bowl will be sanded to minimize any potential scratching of your table surfaces. I continue to explore various combinations of glazes and clays, creating a diverse range of pottery in various colors and shapes. To address this, we apply a water-blocking treatment using a food-safe sealant before shipping, eliminating the need for initial soaking (mejime). This treatment requires 2-3 days, hence our shipping timeframe of 5 days from order placement. If you prefer not to have the water-blocking treatment applied, please inform us at the time of purchase. - While we strive to ensure product images accurately represent the actual items, colors may appear differently depending on your monitor settings and lighting conditions. Please be aware of this beforehand. - As this item is also sold on other platforms, in the event of overlapping purchases, the item will be delivered to the customer who completes the purchase process first. We appreciate your understanding. - While the item can be used in a microwave (for reheating) and dishwasher, the vibrations from microwaves and the high-pressure spray of hot water may accelerate wear.
