The craftsmen decorate the pieces using a technique called "Kirimawashi" (cutting the leaves), so no two pieces are the same. To bring out the elegance of the piece to the fullest, the traditional Yamanaka-nuri lacquer is applied, preserving the texture of the gold leaf as much as possible. The matte finish creates a soft glow like moonlight.
