This tumbler uses cased (overlay) glass—the type also employed in traditional Edo Kiriko—and is engraved with a star-filled cityscape. A serene night sky with a full moon and streaming meteors is carved across the surface, while the lower area features a Western-style town with towers and houses. It makes a thoughtful gift for occasions such as birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Respect-for-the-Aged Day, or as a wedding favor or return gift. Please note: this listing is for a single glass, not a pair. Point Cased glass consists of layers of different-colored glass. By removing only the colored layer, the engraving creates patterns and smooth gradations. This process also leaves slight steps that give the surface a distinctive tactile feel. Because the design is created by engraving only, there is no printed color to wash or wear off.
