Walnut has beautiful grain that is used in many types of high-quality furniture and artwork. The striped part is made of Walnut. I use wood conditioner which helps to feed the wood, while providing a water-shedding coating. The conditioner is a combination of food grade mineral oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax. Nice to handle and manipulate making opening and closing almost irresistible.
